Two Yankton men were arrested Tuesday afternoon after a bogus investigation uncovered suspected meth.
At 1:08 p.m. Tuesday, Norfolk police responded to a business in the 300 block of West Omaha Avenue, alleging two subjects made fake receipts to steal money from a skill game inside the business, Captain Michael Ball said. .
Employees said the company had two men who had counterfeited skill game vouchers at another store a few months ago.Ball said the employee was concerned the people would try again.
Officials made contact with the two men, identified as William Rayner, 40, and Anthony Kent, 42, both of Yankton.During the investigation, officials learned that each of them had cashed in “jackpot” vouchers at at least two stores in Norfolk.
The owner of the skill game checked the payment history of the machines used by Rainer and Kent and found that the payment history did not match the fake game tickets, Bauer said.Police then searched the vehicle they were in.
Police recovered a printer, scanner, receipt paper, printer paper, ink, multiple blank vouchers and a glass tube that tested positive for suspected methamphetamine, Ball said.Two were arrested on suspicion of possession of a paper forgery device, second-degree forgery and possession of a controlled substance.
